Our story
From one crawlspace
to a growing network
Joe the Home Pro began as a local inspection company in Naples, Florida. No franchising playbook, no venture capital — just an inspector who documented everything, explained it in plain English, and answered the phone after the report was delivered.
That reputation grew into an award-winning Southwest Florida practice, and the practice grew into a playbook: the 400+ point standard, the same-day photo-documented report, flat-rate published pricing, and the free pool & spa promise.
Today that playbook powers locally owned Joe the Home Pro locations in three states — each one run by an inspector with their name on the door and their reputation on every report.
Meet the founder
Joe Nugent
Founder & CEO — Joe the Home Pro
Joe was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati with a B.A. in Organizational Communications. From there he spent 20 years to the day in the hospitality industry — rising from Assistant Food and Beverage Manager and Catering Manager to Corporate Sales Manager, Director of Sales and Marketing, and Regional Sales Director.
Joe has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. In July 2013, after losing his job, he decided it was time to start his own business — and after exploring his options, home inspection was where he knew he belonged. In March 2015 he launched Joe the Home Pro, a home inspection and home watch company that grew into an award-winning Southwest Florida practice.
In mid-2023, Joe set out to take Joe the Home Pro nationwide through a licensing program — similar to a franchise, but at a tenth of the cost. His goal is to help put over 100 Veterans to work and ultimately grow to more than 250 locations nationwide. Joe's passion for helping others achieve their dream of owning a business and working for themselves is the driving force behind the licensing division.
